Happy Friday
It was lovely seeing all the families on Tuesday and Thursday. It is always valuable to share updates, celebrate the children’s progress, and strengthen the partnership between home and school. Thank you for your continued support—it makes a meaningful difference to the learning and wellbeing of all our pupils.
🏅 House Captains and Vice Captains 🏅
We hosted a special assembly today to celebrate the election of our new House Captains and Vice Captains. The children were nominated by their peers for their leadership qualities, enthusiasm, and commitment to their school community. Congratulations to all the pupils who put themselves forward and to those who have been chosen for these important roles. We are excited to see the wonderful ideas and initiatives they will bring to their houses this year!
Clerical
We have appointed a new clerical staff member, who we hope will be able to start after the October holidays.
🎒 P1 Homework Bag Presentation
P1 children will receive their homework bags on Wednesday, 1st October at 13:45. P1 families are welcome to join us for a wee assembly.
Active Schools
Please see the letter below from Craig Carswell our Active School Coordinator.
Dear families,
My name is Craig Carswell, and I am the Active Schools Coordinator for the Inverness High School cluster. My role is to increase opportunities for young people to take part in high-quality extra-curricular sport, which we achieve through the recruitment of volunteers and partnerships with local sports clubs.
Following discussions with Mrs Fraser, we would like to welcome additional volunteers at Central School to help support and deliver more sport and physical activity opportunities for pupils. No previous coaching experience is required, as all new volunteers will receive a formal induction through High Life Highland.
If you are interested, or would like more information, please contact me at craig.carswell2@highlifehighland.com or call 07748 704917.
Kind Regards,
Craig Carswell – Active Schools Coordinator, Inverness High School ASG

🏠 Home School Partnership Learning
Article 28 says that every child has the right to an education.
This means:
All children should be able to go to school.
School should be free for primary education and available to everyone.
Children should be treated with respect while learning.
Governments should help children stay in school and do well in their studies.
Have a discussion with a grown-up at home:
Why is learning important for your future?
What makes it hard for some children to go to school (e.g., distance, cost, bullying)?
How can family members help each other (reading together, sharing knowledge, encouraging effort)?
Jackie McCann’s If the World Were 100 People helps children understand our planet in a way that feels real and personal. Instead of overwhelming statistics, the book imagines the whole world as just 100 people. It shows how many of those 100 have enough food, clean water, a safe home, or the chance to go to school. The book highlights that not all children can attend school, directly linking to the right to education.
At home you can:
Draw or use counters to represent 100 people and divide them into groups (for example, how many go to school vs. how many don’t).
Talk about what changes would make education fair for everyone.
Design a poster showing why education is important for all kids.
