Happy Friday
It feels like the week has flown by, and we're wrapping it up with some sunshine☀️.
📝 Reports
The end-of-term reports were sent home today. We look forward to receiving your feedback.
🏕️ Fairburn Adventure
Our P7 children had a fantastic time at Fairburn Activity Centre. They took part in numerous adventurous challenges—ranging from crate stack and archery to body zorbing. The trip was a great opportunity for everyone to test their limits and work together in a fun, supportive environment.
🥪 Snack Break
We have observed that a big number of children are not finishing their lunch. To support healthy eating habits and ensure that pupils have an adequate appetite for their meals, we kindly ask families to limit the number of snacks sent to school to one item per child.
📚 Meet the Teacher
We are planning to hold a Meet the Teacher session on Wednesday, 2nd July.
🎒 School/Nursery Trip
Please ensure you return your child’s permission slip to school by Monday. A written permission slip is required in accordance with Highland Council policy.
🚌Free bus travel - let the adventures begin!
Is your child turning five? You can apply for their card with free bus travel up to two weeks before their fifth birthday. Whether it’s the school run, a trip to the park, or a weekend adventure, free bus travel makes it easier and more affordable to get around. Find out more at freebus.scot.

🏠 Home School Partnership Learning
UK Clean Air Day is on Thursday, June 19, 2025. It's an annual event dedicated to raising awareness of air pollution and inspiring action to improve air quality.
This year, we’re celebrating every child’s right to breathe clean air: by learning about pollution and taking simple steps—like walking to school or planting greenery—we safeguard children’s health (Article 24), ensure a safe home environment (Article 27), foster environmental education (Article 29), and keep outdoor play healthy (Article 31).
Here are some fun, hands‑on activities you can try at home or in your neighbourhood:
DIY Air Quality Monitor Create a simple “pollution jar” by taping a sticky piece of tape to a card, exposing it outside for 24 hours, then counting the number of particles that stick. Discuss how the particle count might differ between busy roads and quieter streets.
Plant a Green Filter Choose a houseplant known for improving indoor air quality (e.g., spider plant, peace lily, or snake plant). Research online what makes these plants good “air cleaners” and keep a growth diary over the coming weeks.
Clean Air Scavenger Hunt Design a checklist of “air heroes” (e.g., electric cars, bike lanes, trees, solar panels) and go for a walk or cycle in your local area. Mark off each item you find and discuss how they help reduce pollution.
Science Experiment: Leaf Breath Collect a few green leaves and place each under a jar filled with water. Add a small amount of baking soda. Leave them in sunlight for a few hours and observe tiny bubbles forming—this demonstrates how plants “breathe” in carbon dioxide and release oxygen.
Family Pledge Jar Write down simple pledges on slips of paper (e.g., “We’ll turn off the car engine while we wait,” “We’ll walk or cycle for short trips”). Put them in a jar and pull one out each week to focus on one action together
These activities will not only help your family understand the importance of clean air but also inspire everyday habits that contribute to healthier communities!
Wishing you a wonderful weekend
