As I began my research journey, I found that there is a large percentage of people who are blind in the world. I decided to dig more into this topic and found that blindness is typically causes by cataracts. This made my purpose for this research to find out why this was the case. My answers late came to me as I found different statistics and stories about people that have cataracts. I found that in certain areas cataract surgery is illegal, many people also cannot afford the surgery, and I had also found some stories that prove that sometimes the surgery does not completely work. This research only proved to me that cataracts truly does contribute to a large part of the world’s blindness percentage. Hopefully one day it will be easier for people all around the world to access a way to provide help to people with cataracts.
