My research is driven by complications that are seen in the ER in a normal basis. I narrowed these complications to ones relating to the patients cardiac health since it is the field I am interested in. On Average, 274 people die every day from blood clots, this is why my essential question is "what kind of care and prevention could a healthcare worker take in order to lower or eliminate the risk of blood clotting in patients?" During my time in the ER I witnessed all types of cases. People who came in due to heart related complications were the ones who caught my attention the most. My mentor and the other nurses and doctors, showed me all the steps to care for a person who is having these kinds of complications. From the moment the patient is admitted, to the moment they are given a room and are off our care, they are always monitoring them and making sure everything is in normal range and that the patient is stable. With everything I’ve learned throughout my mentorship, I want to be able to, in the near future, help my patients lower the risk of developing life threatening blood clots.
