Child abuse is a huge problem in the world despite the fact that child abuse has decreased dramatically since 2000 due to attention and prevention. My question is: Could we end child abuse completely by increasing prevention and awareness? The only effective solution to ending child abuse is prevention. Every parent should take prevention classes in order to know how to identify potentially abusive situations. Also families need to make sure that their children are educated on the subject even though it is considered to be uncomfortable and inappropriate for children. Over sheltering children puts them at risk. The largest problem with abuse lies in low SES homes. Due to a low income these people lack proper education and funding to keep their children from entering a potentially abusive situation. It is common for parents to leave children with untrustworthy neighbors or family members because they have to go work. Child abuse happens to 1 in 5 children but with greater implementation of prevention methods we could have a future with no more child abuse.
