Mentors: Paul Kyst, Lanier Aircraft Maintenance
My name is Roland Mann and I have participated in a mentorship at Lanier Aircraft Maintenance. I worked with Paul Kyst, John Ludlam, Drew Friar, Dwayne Greene, Will Vergonet, Dwayne Ludlam, Kyle Hewett, and Angelo Conti. I’m proud to say that these men that were once just my mentors are now my friends as well. I learned a lot about how aircraft work, the design process behind them, and how they are repaired. I would never have imagined that aircraft maintenance is such an important part of aviation. It’s not like cars where you only fix them when they’re broken. Aircraft have a rigorous inspection and repair schedule that must be adhered to very closely in order to keep them airworthy. While I loved my mentorship, I am not so sure that I would like to become a maintenance tech. It doesn't quite seem like a job for me, however my mentorship introduced me to the world of aviation. This is definitely a world I want to be a part of, and I have already taken my first steps to becoming a pilot thanks to my mentorship at Lanier Aircraft Maintenance.
