call on them until someone says "First it is sour, then it is sweet."

Let them know just like the candy, many things start off very sour or difficult, but the rewards is so sweet and worthwhile.

The reason why we started off with this activity is because we will be learning about Perseverance.

Perseverance means: trying over and over even when it is difficult.

For our next activity we will watch a video on perseverance. Pay close attention to some of the ways Bruno Mars tells us how we can practice perseverance.

Now that we have watch the video, please answer the following questions.

  1. How can we use perseverance to succeed?

  2. Why should we use perseverance?

  3. How can we get better at using perseverance?

  1. Examples for question 1 studying for test to get good grades, practicing my letters to get good at it, exercise to get strong

  2. Examples for question 2: so that we don't give up, so we can get better at things,

  3. Examples for question 3: stay positive, encourage others, set small goals within a big goal

Before we finish our lesson, think about at least one thing that requires you to have perseverance to reach your goals.

"If something gets hard, I won't give up! I want to be excellent at ___________________"
