Look at the picture below and write these points as they will help you answer the post test!

Note to teacher:

Talk about what compassion is with students. Younger children may not be familiar with this word. Older children may have difficulty verbalizing what the word means, but most should be familiar with the word. Also, talk about empathy and how it is different from sympathy. Be sure to use concrete examples of each so that they can understand the difference. Also, be sure to define gratitude to them. This may be a new word, especially for younger children. They understand “Thank You”, but they may not have heard the word, “gratitude”

Now let's take a look at this video that will show us what caring means and how it looks.

Activity time

How can you show others that you care?

In small groupsdiscuss the various ways to show that we care. Make a list of all of the ways we can show others that we care on the chat box. Be sure to discuss the various people that we should show caring actions.

Most children will understand being caring to family and friends, but most will not think about clerks, service people, technicians, etc. Underscore that ALL humans deserve to be shown caring attitudes.

Hope you learned more about CARING today. Now, don't forget to take the post test before you are done with this lesson today! Send your responses to your school counselor.
