Week 1: Setting Classroom/Zoom Expectations

The purpose of this week is to support you with establishing your virtual classroom expectations. Setting the expectations for zoom or google meet will support your students in their virtual classroom experience. Please feel free to contact us if you need further support.

Sample rules for online Meetings

( feel free to edit for your online classroom) (zoom)

  1. Be on time. People’s time is precious. Please do not make them wait on you to arrive.

  2. Be prepared. Use the restroom, have a snack beforehand, have any necessary materials with you when you sign in.

  3. Eliminate environmental distractions that may take your attention away from what is happening on the screen.

  4. Make sure your volume is down enough that you do not create “feedback” (that obnoxious squawking noise) for others. Use of headphones is encouraged.

  5. Clear the room of playful pets or noisy siblings.

  6. Minimize background noise by turning off the TV and radio.

  7. Turn off cell phones. (Multitasking at this time is discouraged)

  8. Try to keep your microphone on mute, if you can, especially when there are a lot of people in the “room”.

  9. Make sure you know how to raise your “virtual hands” and wait to be recognized when responding to a question or comment.

  10. Any interruptions that make noise will disrupt the conversation, so be careful about moving your device around while online.

  11. Just like in real life, remember to say “please” and “thank you.”

  12. Wait your turn to speak… if someone else's is speaking, let them finish without interruptions.

  13. Wait until others are finished speaking and then comment or ask questions.

Stay on topic.
