Sep: Week of the 14th

As educators, we need to help our scholars understand the decision making process and its consequences though responsibility. The more opportunities our students have to see positive examples will help them learn responsibility and good decision making skills as they grow. Us educators are important role models because we make hundreds of decisions in a classroom which affect our students and others.

Responsible decision-making is one of five components of social and emotional learning. The other components are self-awareness, self-management, relationship skills and social awareness.

Responsible decision-making is “the ability to make constructive choices about personal behavior and social interactions based on ethical standards, safety concerns, and social norms. The realistic evaluation of consequences of various actions, and a consideration of the well-being of oneself and others.” -CASEL
