What do I want to be when I grow up?

Students Objectives:

Students will be able to:

  • Practice writing skills by writing what they want to be when they grow up

  • Practice small motor skills by drawing and coloring what they want to be when they grow up

  • learn about their profession of choice by researching

Have students think about what they want to be when they grow up? Explain that they are going to write about what they want to be, draw pictures, and show them to their classmates.

For the first activity: we will start with the icebreaker: Who am I? Play a few rounds and see if students can guess what their profession.



After students have guessed who am I- Icebreaker, have students begin thinking of what would they like to be when they grow up. As they are saying their ideas, write down a couple of characteristics of why they would like to have that profession. (If students are not sure, help them by explaining what does their profession do)


Activity #2: Play the "When I grow up" Book to give students more ideas, if they are unsure of what they want to be when they grow up.

Activity #3: Students draw what they want to be when they grow up using the body clip art below.

Activity #3 Have students write:

When I grow up I want to be a _________________. Have students to be creative and color their picture. Have students share with the rest of the classmates.
