Dear HKMS Families,
For the last few weeks, one of our main office administrative assistants has been out on a leave of absence. To fill in we have had to adjust several people's schedules and duties. No one has been more important in ensuring that the orderly operations of the school have remained (mostly) in-tact than our administrative assistant, Penne Rudy. Mrs. Rudy is now coming in earlier and staying later than her contract provides. She handles every incoming phone call, main office email, student messages to and from parents, changes to afterschool plans, finding lost items, making sure attendance is 100% accurate, in addition to her normal duties and responsibilities. Maybe it is serendipity that this week we celebrated Administrative Assistant's Day! Please join me in showing her our appreciation for all the she does for our school and our students. Our students and teachers surprised her by redecorating her workspace this week (see pic below). Thank you Penne!
A few quick reminders of items to check out below:
All 6th graders need to complete a state required physical exam before starting 7th grade. See the nurse note below that explains the requirement.
Next Tuesday is our annual "Spring Fling" at SSES from 3:00 - 6:00 p.m. The highlight is the softball game between the staff of SSES and HKMS. Keller lost the game last year and are looking to take back the Easton Cup! The event also features ice cream, a DJ, and students voting on a PTO gift for the school. I hope to see you and your whole family there!
Next Thursday and Friday 8th grade students are presenting their Personal Interest Projects (PIPs) to a panel of evaluators from around our community. Dr. McKinnon and Dr. Bindelglass will be joined by teachers and administrators from SSES, JBHS, and JRMS. Parents are invited to attend their child's presentation. Eighth Grade Parents, look for an message from Mrs. Gale with your child's presentation date and time.
This is the last newsletter of April! My goodness, how the year seems to be slipping away. With just over 7 weeks left, teachers are keeping their expectations and rigor at their highest levels. You can catch a glimpse of all that and so much more in this week's newsletter. Enjoy!
Sincerely,
Steve Clapp, Ed.D.
