Dear HKMS Families,
It’s here! It's here! The guide to the 2024-25 school year is here! Thanks to the tireless work of our AP, Mrs. Annie Mohr, and our amazing office assistants Mrs. Cahalan and Mrs. Rudy we are releasing this year's guide to the school year as a Google Site called “The HKMS Guide to the 2023-2024 School Year” (linked here and below this message).
This year’s guide is presented as an interactive website. The site contains twenty-five (n=25) sub-pages of all the “need-to-knows” (and a few “nice-to-knows”) about the upcoming school year! In our guide you will find information about schedules, procedures, and policies. There are embedded videos and images that help explain and provide clarity on various documents. We hope you and your child(ren) find the opportunity to go through the Guide to the School Year together and experience some of the joy we had in creating it.
Please also refer to the email sent out by our Central Office this afternoon with directions for how to update your family’s information in PowerSchool and how to access your child’s schedule. The PowerSchool Parent Portal will be opened around 3pm Monday 8/19/24
Please note: Access to elements of PowerSchool (like student schedules) are turned off until all the required updates are completed by a parent or guardian.
In addition to the guide there are a few other "summertime notices and reminders" below. Notably, the Congressional Church of Easton is hosting a school supply drive as well as sponsoring families who may need some assistance with school supplies. If you need assistance, please contact the Congressional Church or our social worker, Mrs. Bailey Keehan (bkeehan@er9.org). Both can confidentially support any family in need. We will also be updating our "Flags of HKMS" display in the cafeteria to represent the 2024-25 community. Below there are instructions on how you can request a flag be added to represent your family's heritage. We have also included some of the reminders from the mid-summer mailer about summer reading and math assignments, requirements for physical exams, and ways to get involved this year!
Should you have any questions, problems, or concerns, please let me know.
Sincerely,
Steve Clapp, Ed.D.
