Dear HKMS Families,
Since Thanksgiving we have had 3 weeks of (almost) full five-day weeks (minus a couple of delayed openings). As I predicted, the time between Thanksgiving and winter break has been one of the most productive and challenging stretches of the school year. We started a new trimester, many classes had culminating unit assessments, projects, and presentations. This year has been filled with learning, growth, and exciting moments for our students both inside and outside the classroom. I am incredibly proud of our students' accomplishments and the positive energy they bring to our school each day. The level of success I have the privilege to witness is only possible when schools and families work together. I want to thank all of you for your partnership, support, and trust. I also have to recognize our dedicated and talented staff for their hard work and commitment to providing our students with a high-quality education. Their passion for teaching and their care for our students are truly inspiring.
Whether you celebrate Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, the Winter Solstice or another tradition, I wish you a joyous holiday season filled with warmth, laughter, and cherished moments with loved ones. May this special time of year bring you peace and happiness. I also want to extend my best wishes for a restful and rejuvenating break. I look forward to welcoming our students back in the New Year, refreshed and ready to continue their learning journey.
From a great pancake breakfast and toy drive to new extra curricular clubs and play rehearsals, students and teachers rose to new and exciting challenges and opportunities. I hope you can take a moment to check it all out in this week's newsletter.
From my family to yours, happy holidays!
Steve Clapp, Ed.D.

The badminton unit wrapped up this week with tournaments galore!
Monday Morning Meeting
This year's toy drive trip was a HUGE SUCCESS thanks to the incredible generosity of the HKMS families! Our 8th grade council members spent the day at Curiale School in Bridgeport on Thursday being teacher's assistants then distributing gifts. Check out these great pictures! The looks on the faces of the kiddos will warm your heart!
A favorite tradition at HKMS made a big come back! The 8th grade student vs. Staff volleyball game was a crowd please and a great way to come together as a community the last day of school before break.
NEW CLUB ALERT! COMING IN JANUARY!!!!
The orientation will focus on describing course offerings, graduation requirements, and the course selection process for the 2025-2026 school year. Additional information will be shared after the holiday break.
