Jiaozi, a world famous Chinese cuisine, which are made of affordable ingredients, is a common staple that I can eat every single day. Some Chinese families must have Jiaozi in Chinese New Year because it symbolises "元寶" (ancient Chinese money) and wealth. Apart from that, I believe dumplings have some sort of philosophy that may bring us peace.

In Food Science, we have a team building game called Dumpling Game. I play that with S1 every year. Students are good at telling me all the words related to team spirits - responsibility, understanding, trust, brainstorming, decisive etc. They don't know what interests me more is how they react to unexpected scenarios. I would swap their team members or even team leaders in the middle of the game to see how they adjust to the sudden change.

I heard arguments. I heard discussions. I heard greivances. I heard complaints. Then, I heard nothing when they finish all the prep work and get ready to eat. That's the magic of dumplings. The food brought the kids together. They sat around the table like a family, counting how many pieces they had eaten. They also saved the leftovers for their friends. They are a family, an adorable and sweet family. :)
