EBR Career and Technical Education Center (CTEC) is a regional training provider for high school students in high demand, high paying jobs in the Capital Region. CTEC provides rigorous, project-based instruction, Industry Based Credentials (IBC), and dual enrollment opportunities that can be used towards an Associate Degree while in high school.
The Career and Technical Education Center (CTEC) provides students with unique opportunities to explore specialized career pathways not available at their home schools. CTEC equips students with the skills and experiences needed for success in high-demand industries and post-secondary education by offering hands-on training, industry-aligned certifications, and innovative learning environments.

Stakeholders,
As we move further into the summer, we are excited to share the many opportunities our students, staff, and partners are participating in across the district and beyond. Thank you for your continued support of the Career and Technical Education Center and our mission to prepare students for success in college, careers, and life.
Our Summer 2026 programs are off to an outstanding start! Last week, we successfully hosted:
The Career Exploration Academy in partnership with ExxonMobil
The launch of our Fast Forward Summer Program at multiple sites across the district
Our Summer Internship Bootcamp at Tara High School
These programs are helping students explore careers, develop workplace skills, earn credentials, and prepare for future success. We are grateful to our industry partners, educators, and support staff who continue to invest in the next generation of leaders and professionals.
As we continue our summer work, we embrace our Superintendent's challenge to "Let's Go Higher!" This call reminds us to elevate our expectations, strengthen our commitment to excellence, and continually seek opportunities for growth and improvement. Together, we will continue building pathways to success and creating opportunities that transform lives. Thank you for your continued partnership and support of CTEC.

Students enrolled in CTEC remain registered at their home high schools but attend CTEC for half a day every other day. This arrangement allows them to benefit from specialized training while maintaining their connection to their home school.
CTEC is designed to provide comprehensive career and technical education that aligns with regional industry needs, promotes equitable access to career pathways, and enhances both student outcomes and local economic development.
What an Incredible Week at the Career Exploration Academy! This past week, students from schools across the district participated in the Exxon Career Awareness Camp hosted at the EBR Career & Technical Education Center - CTEC. Throughout the week, students were immersed in a variety of high-demand career pathways and industry opportunities while gaining valuable real-world experiences.
Students had the opportunity to tour the ExxonMobil facility in Baton Rouge and the Coca-Cola processing plant, giving them firsthand exposure to careers in manufacturing, engineering, logistics, operations, and more. The week was filled with hands-on learning experiences as students:
Practiced essential workplace soft skills
Participated in team-building activities and debates
Explored career pathways and industry expectations
Built birdhouses and other hands-on projects
Connected classroom learning to real-world careers
Experiences like these help students discover their passions, develop critical workforce skills, and begin preparing for successful futures. A huge thank you to ExxonMobil, Coca-Cola, our instructors, partners, and staff who made this opportunity possible for our students. When education, industry, and workforce development come together, amazing things happen!

Last week, we had the privilege of welcoming Turner Industries, now an official sponsor of EBR Broadmoor High School Welding class—and this is exactly what it’s all about. Strong partnerships that create real opportunities.
Turner Industries met with our NCCER CORE class and several students interested in careers with their company. They shared valuable insights, brought a new banner for our classroom and shop, and most importantly, reinforced their commitment to our students.
We are proud to have Turner Industries as a partner—not only with Broadmoor High School, but with the East Baton Rouge Parish School System. This collaboration opens doors for students who are ready to enter the workforce after high school or continue their training through an ABC program, leading to both further education and job placement. This is how we build futures—together.
