Students enrolled in CTEC remain registered at their home high schools but attend CTEC for half a day every other day. This arrangement allows them to benefit from specialized training while maintaining their connection to their home school.
CTEC is designed to provide comprehensive career and technical education that aligns with regional industry needs, promotes equitable access to career pathways, and enhances both student outcomes and local economic development.
Fifty-eight EBR JROTC cadets recently attended the JROTC STEM Leadership Camp at Mississippi State University, where they participated in an exciting week of hands-on learning, leadership development, and STEM exploration. Throughout the camp, cadets engaged in interactive activities designed to strengthen their problem-solving, teamwork, and critical thinking skills while exploring careers in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.
As Louisiana transitions from the 6th JROTC Brigade to the 5th JROTC Brigade, changes to future STEM camp opportunities are anticipated. District JROTC leadership is actively exploring options to ensure EBR cadets continue to have access to these exceptional learning experiences, including partnering with the new brigade or developing a Louisiana-based STEM program in collaboration with one of our state universities.
We are proud of our cadets for representing EBR with excellence and look forward to expanding STEM opportunities that prepare our students to become the next generation of leaders and innovators.
Woodlawn High School Cadet Amariya Jarvis
6th BDE SY 2025-2026 Essay Contest Winner.
Congratulations to Amariya of Woodlawn High School, whose award-winning essay earned her an all-expenses-paid trip to Washington, D.C. to participate in the All-Service JROTC Leadership and Academic Bowl (JLAB) Competition.
Despite travel delays, including a canceled flight and a last-minute airport change, Amariya arrived just in time to deliver her essay during the competition's Opening Ceremony. Her presentation was so powerful that Colonel Lee Evans, Chief of Army JROTC, requested a copy of her essay to use as an inspiration for cadets across the nation.
We are incredibly proud of Amariya for representing Woodlawn High School, East Baton Rouge Parish, and the state of Louisiana with excellence, resilience, and outstanding leadership. Congratulations on this remarkable achievement!
As our Fast Forward Program enters its final week, students in the Emergency Medical Responder (EMR) pathway had the opportunity to learn from professionals at Acadian Ambulance. During their visit, Acadian team members brought an ambulance to campus, allowing students to tour the vehicle and gain firsthand exposure to the equipment and technology used in emergency response.
Students also received valuable insights into careers in the EMR and EMT fields, learning about the responsibilities, training, and rewards associated with serving their communities through emergency medical services. Experiences like these help bring classroom learning to life and inspire students as they prepare for future healthcare careers.

Workforce Ready Future Focused Learning Today, Leading Tomorrow
Last week, we had the privilege of welcoming Turner Industries, now an official sponsor of EBR Broadmoor High School Welding class—and this is exactly what it’s all about. Strong partnerships that create real opportunities.
Turner Industries met with our NCCER CORE class and several students interested in careers with their company. They shared valuable insights, brought a new banner for our classroom and shop, and most importantly, reinforced their commitment to our students.
We are proud to have Turner Industries as a partner—not only with Broadmoor High School, but with the East Baton Rouge Parish School System. This collaboration opens doors for students who are ready to enter the workforce after high school or continue their training through an ABC program, leading to both further education and job placement. This is how we build futures—together.
