EBR Career and Technical Education Center (CTEC) is a regional training provider for high school students in high demand, high paying jobs in the Capital Region. CTEC provides rigorous, project-based instruction, Industry Based Credentials (IBC), and dual enrollment opportunities that can be used towards an Associate Degree while in high school.
Workforce Development Department: Week in Review
This week was full of exciting career exploration activities across various programs:
Our Career Exploration teacher showcased her professional wardrobe to students, offering insights into dressing for success in the workplace.
HVAC and Electrical students welcomed a Guest Speaker from Coburn's, where they learned about essential industry safety gear, including flash suits and PPE.
Instrumentation students began hands-on training with arrest harnesses and PPE as part of their safety protocol lessons.
Medical students embarked on their first clinical rotations at BRCC, marking a significant milestone in their hands-on learning journey.
The Jump$tart Financial Literacy Training brought together educators from across the Capitol Region to prepare them for teaching the LDOE-required Financial Literacy course.
ProStart students from various schools catered regional events, providing them with real-world culinary experience while showcasing their skills.
It’s been a week of growth, hands-on learning, and preparation for the future!

The Workforce Development Department partnered with Jump$tart hosted a successful event, bringing together teachers from across the Capitol Region to train them in effective strategies for teaching the new LDOE-required Financial Literacy course. This initiative is aimed at ensuring our students are better prepared for their financial futures. The event was made even more special with delicious catering provided by ProStart students from Istrouma High, Belaire High, and Broadmoor High. A great day of learning, collaboration, and community support was enjoyed by all.
ExxonMobil wants students to SAVE THE DATE if they are interested in applying for their summer internship program. Also, STEM Baton Rouge presents STEM FEST on Saturday from 9-12 at Southern University.
