CTEC Weekly Message from the Principal
As we wrap up another dynamic week at CTEC, I want to take a moment to celebrate the incredible work happening across our programs and share what’s ahead.
This past week, our ProStart students showcased their culinary skills by preparing and serving meals at January’s Principal Meeting, while our Food Science program took an exciting step forward with the launch of a CTEC & Woodlawn High Food Trailer Collaboration. Additionally, Acadian Ambulance visited campus, giving our students a firsthand look at emergency medical services both in the classroom and inside an actual ambulance.
Our Carpentry students continue to make impressive progress on the playhouse for Southdowns Elementary, demonstrating craftsmanship and teamwork. Meanwhile, our Media Arts and Computer Networking students worked together to document and canonize the build of a computer, highlighting the power of interdisciplinary collaboration.
Looking ahead to next week, our Nursing students will be testing at BRCC, taking another step toward their certifications and future careers in healthcare. We will also welcome several schools to CTEC for field trips, offering students across the district an inside look at the hands-on learning and career preparation happening on our campus.
Thank you for your continued support of our students and programs. We look forward to another week of innovation, learning, and achievement at CTEC!

Black History and Career and Technical Education (CTE) intersect in significant and impactful ways. The contributions of African Americans to the development and advancement of various technical and vocational fields are profound, yet often underrepresented in historical narratives and educational curriculums.
Modern Contributions: African Americans have continued to contribute significantly to various technical fields, including STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics), healthcare, and the arts. Innovators, educators, and leaders in these areas have advanced their fields and served as role models for future generations.

Archery Competition at Belaire High School
Belaire High School JROTC serves as the host to the first district archery tournament on January 15 at the high school gymnasium. The archery tournament is the first event of the year for teams to prepare and compete in the upcoming Regional and Louisiana State Championship tournaments held at LSU-Alexandria (Mega Shelter) on February 21, 2025. During the first round of the district tournament, about 50 students from Belaire, Istrouma, and McKinley High were present for the competition. Several parents and team supporters came out to support their students and teams. The second round of the district competition will be held on January 29th at Belaire High and will also serve as the host to several more teams throughout the district. The teams must compete high to qualify and participate in the Louisiana State Archery Championship. We expect several of our teams to earn a trip to the National Level Archery Competition in Louisville, KY during late spring 2025.
We are looking for businesses to participate in our Summer 2025 and Fall/Spring 25/26 Internship "Learn and Earn" Program.
