EBR Career and Technical Education Center (CTEC) is a regional training provider for high school students in high demand, high paying jobs in the Capital Region. CTEC provides rigorous, project-based instruction, Industry Based Credentials (IBC), and dual enrollment opportunities that can be used towards an Associate Degree while in high school.

SkillsUSA Membership Drive at CTEC
Next week CTEC will kick off recruitment for TECs (Trainees Earning Credentials) to join SkillsUSA. With a $16 membership fee, TECs will receive a $500 scholarship to any LCTCS college, which includes BRCC. TECs may also have the opportunity to compete for an additional $1,000 scholarship!
We would like to thank Ben Boudreaux and the NeuroMedical Center Clinic for donating the membership fee for our nursing and Medical Assistant TECs.
Career and Technical Education around the district!
JROTC JLAB (Leadership) Teams Compete in District Competition at Liberty High
Congratulations to all of our Teams that participated in the JLAB (Leadership Bowl) Competition. All of the teams performed very well and will most likely make it to JLAB 2nd Round in February 2025 to qualify and to earn a trip to Washington, DC., National JLAB Bowl Championship in June 2025.
The JLAB 1 Bowl Competition winners that placed:
1st Place Winner - Liberty High School
2nd Place Winner- Woodlawn High School
3rd Place Winner - Northeast High School
Congratulations to our instructors who earned the Distinguished Bronze Star Instructor Award and the Distinguished Silver Star Instructor Award for their outstanding performance as exceptional teachers and team players in our school district. Award winners: LTC Sutton and 1SG Alsobrook (Silver Star Award) and 1SG Furr, SFC Miller, SFC Crockett, SFC Kennedy, LTC Copple, Major Malbrough (Bronze Star Award). Thank you for your outstanding work in our schools.
On 07 November 2024, Liberty Magnet High School hosted our first JROTC Leadership Bowl. This is a nationwide leadership team, consisting of four cadets, competition done online. Nine JROTC High School programs competed, with Liberty Magnet High School placing first overall. Woodlawn missed first place by one point and Northeast finished third. Additionally, prior to the competition, several JROTC instructors were award the Silver and Bronze Award for their outstanding performance and an instructor.
There are many benefits of participating in the Leadership Bowl:
(1) Increases interest in college admissions and access to college prep materials
(2) Improve leadership skills
(3) Demonstrate academic and leadership strengths of the JROTC program
(4) Boost esprit-de-corps • Share your leadership experience and best practices with other JROTC units
(5) Earn the opportunity to travel to our nation’s capital

ExxonMobil wants students to SAVE THE DATE if they are interested in applying for their summer internship program. Also, STEM Baton Rouge presents STEM FEST on Saturday from 9-12 at Southern University.
We are looking for businesses to participate in our Summer 2025 and Fall/Spring 25/26 Internship "Learn and Earn" Program.
