"I immigrated to the US from Russia when I was 10 years old. I cannot express the wave of relief and excitement I felt after receiving this award. This scholarship allowed me to pursue an education and career in my chosen field of Marine Systems, transition my mechanic’s skill set to a life at sea, and learn to repair and maintain vessels, keeping them afloat and safe. I was able to do all this without burdening my life with a mountain of student debt."
