EBR Career and Technical Education Center (CTEC) is a regional training provider for high school students in high demand, high paying jobs in the Capital Region. CTEC provides rigorous, project-based instruction, Industry Based Credentials (IBC), and dual enrollment opportunities that can be used towards an Associate Degree while in high school.

Welcome Back to the Career and Technical Education Center!

The Career and Technical Education Center (CTEC) provides students with unique opportunities to explore specialized career pathways not available at their home schools. CTEC equips students with the skills and experiences needed for success in high-demand industries and post-secondary education by offering hands-on training, industry-aligned certifications, and innovative learning environments.

CTEC is available to students interested in pathways not offered at home school sites.

We’re excited to welcome all our students, staff, and instructors back for another incredible year of hands-on learning and career exploration! Whether you're returning to continue your journey or stepping into our labs and classrooms for the first time, we’re proud to have you as part of our CTE family.

This year promises new opportunities to grow your skills, connect with industry professionals, and prepare for a successful future in your chosen field — whether it's healthcare, technology, trades, or beyond.

September is Suicide Awareness Month, and we want to make sure every student and staff member in our schools knows how much we value, appreciate, and love them. 💛

Our I CARE Department has equipped school counselors with a variety of resources to help support awareness efforts and provide encouragement for our students and staff throughout the month.

EBRPSS Recognized for Excellence in STEM and Career Pathways

Statewide Recognition

The Louisiana Department of Education (LDOE) recognized the East Baton Rouge Parish School System (EBRPSS) at the BESE board meeting for earning the 2nd highest number of STEM Diploma Seals in the state.

Woodlawn High School and Liberty Magnet High School were specially acknowledged for their exemplary promotion and implementation of STEM pathways.

Farm Life at Northdale Superintendant's Academy

Northdale Superintendent's Academy offers an agriculture science program that uses a new mini-farm with animals like pigs, chickens, and goats to teach students life skills such as responsibility, time management, and career readiness. Led by agriculture teacher Chelsea Johnson, the program allows students to care for the animals, collect eggs, and learn about agriculture through hands-on experience, fostering a positive impact on their focus and motivation. The program aims to provide a non-traditional pathway for students to develop new skills and consider future careers in the field of agriculture.

Exciting News from Glen Oaks School! 🏥📚

Our Health Science Pathway and Magnet program is flourishing, and the Medical Program is officially up and running!

Students now have the incredible opportunity to become Certified Medical Assistants by the end of the school year — setting them up for success in high-demand healthcare careers. 💉🩺

Industry-Based Credentials (IBCs)

Recognized certifications that validate a student’s skills in a specific trade or profession.

IBCs align with workforce needs and enhance employability in high-demand career fields immediately after graduation.

WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT (WFD) OVERVIEW:

The Workforce Development Department consists of Career and Technical Education, Work-Based Learned Programs (Internship), the Career and Technical Education Center, and JROTC programs across the district.

WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT (WFD) GOALS:

Goal 1: Ensure that all high schools and the Career Center have fully developed and implemented course progressions aligned with LDOE College and Career Pathways, with a focus on increasing the attainment of Industry-Based Certifications (IBCs).
Goal 2: Increase student participation in Work-Based Learning experiences, such as internships, and grow business partnerships that align with district goals.
Goal 3: Deliver curriculum support and professional development to CTE, Innovative Programs, and JROTC teachers across the district to increase instructional effectiveness, student achievement, align opportunities for Industry-Based Certification (IBC) attainment, and promote college and career readiness.
