Greetings CTEC Stakeholders,
As we continue through January, our calendar remains full of meaningful experiences that connect students to industry, leadership development, and real-world learning opportunities. Thank you for your continued support as we move forward with purpose and momentum during the second semester.
As we continue through the second semester, we invite every member of our CTEC community—students, families, staff, and partners—to embrace our Superintendent’s challenge: “DARE TO BE GREAT.”
At CTEC, daring to be great means setting high expectations, leaning into opportunities, and committing to excellence even when the work is demanding. Together, we will continue to push boundaries, elevate outcomes, and ensure our students are prepared for success in college, careers, and life.

Students enrolled in CTEC remain registered at their home high schools but attend CTEC for half a day every other day. This arrangement allows them to benefit from specialized training while maintaining their connection to their home school.
CTEC is designed to provide comprehensive career and technical education that aligns with regional industry needs, promotes equitable access to career pathways, and enhances both student outcomes and local economic development.
We are issuing a challenge to all our media arts programs across our high schools. We are challenging your team to participate and showcase your best work to show off your pathways and JROTC programs.
Guidelines:
All clips must be 2 minutes or less
Must highlight each college and career pathway offered on your site and JROTC program if you have one
Link to Pathways by High School
Footage must include students in action
Highlight how these pathways lead to success after high school for students going straight to work, to vocational training, to community college, or to a 4+ year university.

Due Date:
All media clips are due no later than February 14th to caucoin@ebrschools.org.
January 6th was a powerful day of professional development, learning, and fellowship as CTE teachers from across the district gathered at CTEC. The energy in the room was undeniable, with educators actively engaged and excited about strengthening instruction and expanding opportunities for students.
These collaborative sessions also allowed teachers to build new connections with their ESS counterparts, reinforcing partnerships that support Industry-Based Credential (IBC) attainment for ESS students. The shared commitment to inclusion and student success was evident throughout the day.
Most notably, 19 teachers earned additional credentials, adding valuable tools to their professional toolbox and further enhancing the quality of instruction offered to our students. We are proud of our educators’ dedication to continuous growth and grateful for the positive momentum created through this impactful experience.
Please join us in congratulating Kathleen B. Ullrich, a Presidential Awards for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching (PAEMST) nominee for Louisiana.
This year, she is the only educator nominated from East Baton Rouge Parish School System—and the entire Baton Rouge area. Notably, she is believed to be the first computer science teacher in Louisiana to receive this prestigious PAEMST nomination, marking a historic milestone for computer science education in our state.
The PAEMST is the nation’s highest honor for K–12 STEM teachers, recognizing outstanding teaching, dedication to student learning, and leadership in the profession.
Ms. Ullrich will be recognized during a BESE presentation on January 14.
We are proud to celebrate this achievement and the impact of innovative computer science education on Louisiana’s students.
Congratulations on this well-deserved honor!
