As we close out a dynamic and engaging week, I want to take a moment to celebrate the incredible opportunities our students and community have experienced, and to share what’s ahead.
This Week in Review (March 24–28):
On March 24 and 25, our Industrial and Career Exploration students participated in impactful field trips that allowed them to explore future career pathways and connect learning to real-world opportunities. We were proud to host students from Capitol Middle School on March 25 and 26, giving them an early look into the exciting CTEC programs and possibilities that await them in high school. Also on March 27, Mr. Ross, one of our dedicated CTEC educators, visited Park Forest Middle School to lead a powerful demonstration lesson designed to promote student engagement, improve attendance, and support academic growth. We also hosted an Integrating Practical Math Into CTE Instruction workshop for educators across our district. This professional learning experience focused on equipping teachers with strategies to embed real-world math applications into CTE coursework, strengthening students' technical skills and academic foundations. It was a powerful step toward making math more meaningful and relevant in every pathway we offer. From March 26–28, our talented students competed at SkillsUSA in New Orleans, representing CTEC with skill, pride, and professionalism. We are proud of the continued partnerships and learning experiences that extend our classrooms far beyond our walls.
Looking Ahead to Next Week (April 1–5):
On April 1, we welcome Glasgow Middle School for a field trip to CTEC.
On April 4, Southdowns Pre-K will visit our Carpentry program—one of our favorite moments of the year, as our youngest future builders meet some of our most talented current ones!
Thank you for your continued support in helping us build bridges between education and industry. Together, we are preparing students for a future full of opportunity.
