EBR Career and Technical Education Center (CTEC) is a regional training provider for high school students in high demand, high paying jobs in the Capital Region. CTEC provides rigorous, project-based instruction, Industry Based Credentials (IBC), and dual enrollment opportunities that can be used towards an Associate Degree while in high school.

As we approach the final week before Christmas break, I want to take a moment to express my gratitude for your hard work and dedication throughout this semester. Your efforts continue to make a difference in the lives of our students and in shaping the positive environment we value here at CTEC.

Congratulations to McKinley High, Tara High, and Northeast High Istrouma High School JROTC programs for their outstanding performance during the JROTC Accreditation Inspections this month.
McKinley High
The cadet's performance was outstanding in all areas of the inspection to include Continuous School Improvement Staff Briefing, Service-Learning Briefing, Cadet interviews, Electronic Portfolio\Curriculum Review (cadets and cadre instructors), Unit Training Report, Equipment\Supply Accountability Inspection, Drill and Ceremony, and Color Guard performance. Their performance was simply the best. The program is now recognized by the U.S. Army Cadet Command with an Honor Unit with Distinction Award (HUD), the highest award for JROTC programs. Your cadets are authorized to pin the HUD Gold Star Award on their uniform.
Tara High
The cadets performed in an excellent manner in most all areas of the inspection to include Continuous School Improvement Staff Briefing, Service-Learning Briefing, Cadet interviews, Electronic Portfolio\Curriculum Review (cadets and cadre instructors), Unit Training Report, Equipment\Supply Accountability Inspection, Drill and Ceremony, and Color Guard performance. The program is recognized by the U.S. Army Cadet Command as Proficient.
Northeast High
The cadets were well-prepared in all areas of the inspection to include Continuous School Improvement Staff Briefing, Service-Learning Briefing, Cadet interviews, Electronic Portfolio\Curriculum Review (cadets and cadre instructors), Unit Training Report, Equipment\Supply Accountability Inspection, Drill and Ceremony, and Color Guard performance. The program is already recognized by the U.S. Army Cadet Command with an Honor Unit with Distinction Award (HUD), the highest award for JROTC programs. Your cadets are authorized to continue to wear the HUD Gold Star Award on their uniform.
Istrouma High
The cadets performed in a superior manner in all areas of the inspection to include Continuous School Improvement Staff Briefing, Service-Learning Briefing, Cadet interviews, Electronic Portfolio\Curriculum Review (cadets and cadre instructors), Unit Training Report, Equipment\Supply Accountability Inspection, Drill and Ceremony, and Color Guard performance. The program is now recognized by the U.S. Army Cadet Command with an Honor Unit with Distinction Award (HUD), the highest award for JROTC programs. Your cadets are authorized to pin the HUD Gold Star Award on their uniform.
Next week CTEC will kick off recruitment for TECs (Trainees Earning Credentials) to join SkillsUSA. With a $16 membership fee, TECs will receive a $500 scholarship to any LCTCS college, which includes BRCC. TECs may also have the opportunity to compete for an additional $1,000 scholarship!
We would like to thank Ben Boudreaux and the NeuroMedical Center Clinic for donating the membership fee for our nursing and Medical Assistant TECs.
ExxonMobil wants students to SAVE THE DATE if they are interested in applying for their summer internship program. Also, STEM Baton Rouge presents STEM FEST on Saturday from 9-12 at Southern University.
We are looking for businesses to participate in our Summer 2025 and Fall/Spring 25/26 Internship "Learn and Earn" Program.
