They received an assignment to research the St. George breakaway and write a letter to the editor about their personal thoughts on the issue. We did not provide them with any context, bias or information. We also did not require them to submit the letters. However, two of them did submit, and both students were published in the Advocate! Check out their letters here:
"We’re thrilled to shine a spotlight on our incredible intern of the week, Tre! This talented EBRPSS student attended EBR Readiness this spring, and now he’s truly lighting up the team at BRAC! The feedback from the BRAC team has been nothing short of stellar…they can’t stop raving about Tre's phenomenal contributions! 🎉 We couldn’t be prouder of this remarkable young man! To top it all off, Tre had the distinct honor of receiving a personal visit and a proclamation from Mayor-President Edwards today! Talk about a celebration of hard work and achievement! Let's all give Tre a huge round of applause! 👏🙌"

We are proud to highlight a moment of collaboration and investment in the future of our youth! Representatives from Entergy presented a generous donation to the Big Buddy Program in support of the Mayor’s Youth Workforce Experience, a powerful partnership between Employ BR, BRCC, EBRPSS, BRAC, Big Buddy, and the Office of the Mayor-President.
This partnership provides local high school scholars with an opportunity to gain valuable exposure to professional work environments, build transferable employability skills, and earn industry-based credentials. Participants who meet the required on-the-job training and classroom instruction hours, as outlined by the Louisiana Department of Education, will also earn one Carnegie unit on their high school transcripts.
Together, we are creating pathways for youth to thrive academically, professionally, and personally—all while investing in Baton Rouge’s future workforce.
