EBR Career and Technical Education Center (CTEC) is a regional training provider for high school students in high demand, high paying jobs in the Capital Region. CTEC provides rigorous, project-based instruction, Industry Based Credentials (IBC), and dual enrollment opportunities that can be used towards an Associate Degree while in high school.

Workforce Development Department: Week in Review
Scotlandville HS Career Fair: Students had the opportunity to explore various career paths and connect with potential future employers and mentors at the Scotlandville High School Career Fair.
Field Trip to Coca-Cola Plant: Students visited the Coca-Cola plant, gaining insights into manufacturing, production, and logistics in a real-world setting, enhancing their understanding of industry operations.
Simulated Manikin Conference: Medical teachers from across the district attended a conference focused on simulated manikin training, helping them stay updated with advanced tools for hands-on medical instruction.
Halloween Fun: Students enjoyed a bit of Halloween fun, adding a festive touch to their week and allowing some creative, seasonal enjoyment.

MERA Certified Logistics Associate (CLA)
Industry Based Certification Grant
The East Baton Rouge Parish School System’s Office of Workforce Development has been awarded a MERA Certified Logistics Associate (CLA) Industry Based Credential Grant. The certifying agency for the CLA is the Manufacturing Skill Standards Council (MSSC). The school system was awarded $5885 to be spent at Glen Oaks High School to ensure proper credential training.
SkillsUSA Membership Drive at CTEC
Next week CTEC will kick off recruitment for TECs (Trainees Earning Credentials) to join SkillsUSA. With a $16 membership fee, TECs will receive a $500 scholarship to any LCTCS college, which includes BRCC. TECs may also have the opportunity to compete for an additional $1,000 scholarship!
We would like to thank Ben Boudreaux and the NeuroMedical Center Clinic for donating the membership fee for our nursing and Medical Assistant TECs.

Park Forest Middle School's Agriculture Program
ExxonMobil wants students to SAVE THE DATE if they are interested in applying for their summer internship program. Also, STEM Baton Rouge presents STEM FEST on Saturday from 9-12 at Southern University.
We are looking for businesses to participate in our Summer 2025 and Fall/Spring 25/26 Internship "Learn and Earn" Program.
