Christmas Celebrations

House Christmas Talent Show

The Autumn term at Kingswood always finishes with the House Christmas Talent Show where students perform to earn points for their House. We have brilliant singers, talented musicians, amazing dancers and majorettes. The House staff teams provide comic relief with their House Act which usually involves members of staff making a fool of themselves dancing, singing and doing impressions.  It’s a great start to the Christmas holiday and everyone leaves with a smile on their face.

Christmas Banquets

One of our favourite traditions at Kingswood is the Christmas banquet where every student enjoys Christmas lunch with their peers and teachers.  The long tables in the atrium are decorated with red and white table cloths, sparkly Christmas trees, balloons and glitter. It's a lovely sight to see everyone settling down,  pulling their crackers and putting on their colourful party hats.  Staff then serve a Christmas lunch with all the trimmings and a chocolate pudding. Christmas music plays, we have Santa and his elves providing entertainment and we even have snow!  Year 7, because it’s their first experience of a Kingswood Christmas, also have special visitors and are able to encounter live reindeer in the Academy.  It’s the most wonderful time of the year!

Christmas Charity Hampers

The house teams were challenged to collect items for Christmas Hampers to be distributed to people in need in the local community. The generous response from students, families and staff was overwhelming and a phenomenal amount of donations were collected. We had everything from tins of vegetables to a sparkly, silver pug ornament.

The toiletries were donated to WISHH which provides care packages for parents who have an unexpected stay in hospital, for example when a baby is arriving early or when a parent has to stay with a sick child.  The baby items were donated to Bundles of Joy who provide support for young families in poverty.  We also donated a range of gifts for older adults to Kesteven Grange Care Home to brighten their festive celebrations. Finally we donated forty-two large boxes of food to Unity in Community who work with the food bank providers in the local community. The House teams also made show hampers which earned points for their House and then these hampers were donated to the British Heart Foundation who used them as  raffle prizes.  Each of the charities were very grateful for the donations.
