Farm

Kingswood Farm is a unique enrichment opportunity at Kingswood Academy open to students in all year groups.  The Farm is open every day at lunchtime and after school. We now have 3 brand new indoor areas for our animals at Kingswood academy, including a seating area to allow students to care, pet and play with our rabbits and guinea pigs. The farm also has a bird aviary which is home to 5 canaries,  students are able to care for the birds and experience new opportunities. Students develop communication skills and teach other students welfare skills they have learnt from their animal handling sessions. 

As part of this enrichment, we have selected students to become Farm Leaders who take on a leadership role within the farm.  These students proudly wear a farm leader badge. These students play an integral part in checking the animals welfare and managing the everyday running of the farm. Farm leaders have different roles and responsibilities around the choice of diet the animals have to ensure the rabbits and guinea pigs  have enough exercise. We have also given students opportunities of vets leading welfare and handling sessions at the Academy farm to provide students with the knowledge to then teach others.
