World Class Schools

We are delighted to share that Kingswood Academy is accredited as a World Class School. The World Class Schools Quality Mark (WCSQM) is a charity and national awarding body. They support schools to become World Class and accredit schools as World Class, recognising Kingswood Academy as one of the best schools in the country.

The World Class Schools Quality Mark is not a conventional quality mark or assessment process. They assess the students, not the school, against a framework of skills, competencies and characteristics. The award offers unique real-life work experiences, access to a lifelong peer support network and cultural opportunities that take them beyond their local community.

A team of Kingswood students worked incredibly hard over the last year as our World Class Schools ambassadors. First of all, they completed a full self-assessment audit of the school, gathering evidence to support an extensive set of success criteria. Then they filmed and edited a video called ‘A typical week in the life of Kingswood Academy’, showcasing the school’s unique culture and world class teaching and learning offer.

Once the audit and video was submitted, the ambassadors were teamed up with two other schools to complete this year’s assessment centre. The challenge was to create an outdoor relaxation zone for students at the hosting school, St Cuthbert’s. This included a 3D design proposal, a fully costed budget plan, an environmental assessment, a risk assessment and a video pitch of the project. Our student ambassadors were exceptional throughout the process, working virtually with their teammates from other schools much in the same way as adults have had to work remotely over the past year due to Covid. Their final proposal, a beautiful outdoor space with a living green roof, bamboo walls and faith-based interior design, impressed the assessors and ultimately enabled them to secure the very well-deserved World Class Schools Quality Mark.
