61661 & 61662 Concert Choir

GRADE: 9, 10, 11, 12 | SCORE: Pass/No Pass (70% + is passing) | PHS CREDIT: 1 | SEMESTER | ELECTIVE

Membership requires participation in Concert Choir. Concert choir meets on a daily basis and participates in four concerts throughout the school year. Each choir student will receive a weekly private voice lesson for concentrated study. There will be at least 14 lessons per semester. Once in choir, placement will be made in the various other choirs and ensembles.

Additional groups that can be auditioned for:

• • AcaPella Varsity Show Choir: 2 morning rehearsals weekly, some evenings and weekends (Aug-Feb, and the end of April)

  • Bravo JV Show Choir: 2- 3 mornings or after school rehearsals weekly, some evenings and weekends (Oct-Feb, and the end of April)

  • Madrigals: 4-5 hours rehearsal weekly (Nov‐Dec)

  • Chamber Choir: 1 hour rehearsal weekly (April‐May)

  • Opus Choir (9th grade only): 1-2 rehearsals weekly to audition for honor choir (Aug‐Sept)

Additional course requirements:

• • Acceptable rehearsal participation

  • Attendance at ALL vocal music performances

  • Lessons are given to ALL choir students as part of the curriculum
