Deer

The sound correspondence between Lolly Metcalf’s version of this word and Annie Peterson’s versions of this word is like the sound correspondence in the interview segment “Snake”.  There, however, the sound correspondence is between [ h ] in one of Lolly’s versions of that word and [ k ] in Lolly’s other version of that word.  Also, Lolly has one token of the Milluk word meaning ‘sick’ beginning with a k, instead of x̣.  Because of what we see in this interview segment with the Milluk word meaning ‘deer’ and what we can hear and see in the interview segment “Snake”, we do not just dismiss that K [ k ] as a mispronunciation on Lolly’s part.

Instant Phonetic Englishization:  kwits_hhoo, for Lolly's version of the word.
