Code.org

Basic coding helps us to stretch our 'muscles' and develop skills around problem solving, computational thinking, visual thinking, teamwork, and grit!

For the next few days, we will be working in Code.org to explore sequencing, loops, conditionals, functions, and more!

All of this coding will be done using BLOCK CODING, or visual coding, to get us used to this new and fun environment!

DAY 1

4. Once signed in, begin (complete) the Warm Up lesson "Dance Party" (15 minutes)

In this lesson, you will be exploring the basic things you will need to know how to do, including editing blocks, attaching blocks together to create longer lines of code, changing the variables within the blocks, and more!

This is the introduction to what you will be doing for the next few weeks- if you have questions, be sure to ask them!

5. For the rest of class, we will be working in Sequencing -

Please complete the following Lessons in CODE.org:

Lesson 1: Dance Party

Lesson 2: Programming with Angry Birds

Lesson 3: Debugging with Scrat

Lesson 5: Creating Art with Code

You have until the end of class to finish through lessons 1-5, or it becomes homework

Once you are done, work on missing homework or you may do anything on the Spare Time Doc (in Google Classroom resources)

DAY 2

Today, we will continue coding, moving into Loops and If/Then Conditionals-

Please complete the following Lessons in CODE.org:

Lesson 6: Loops with Rey and BB8

Lesson 8: Nested Loops in a Maze

Lesson 11: If/Else with Bee

You have until the end of class to finish all the lessons, or it becomes homework- DUE FRIDAY @ 2 PM

Once you have completed these sections, you and a partner can check out a RVR (team) or Sphero (individually; depends on availability) from Mrs. Yelenick to drive in the hallway for the remainder of class.

* We will be doing more with these machines in the next few weeks *
