A digital portfolio is a collection of artifacts of learning that demonstrates growth, acquisition of skills or knowledge, and student creativity over time.
What is a "Digital Portfolio"?

The following is an outline that guides the general process of creating a new website using Google Sites:
Sign into Google Account
In top right corner, select the nine dots to bring up the Google Apps
Select “Sites” button
On the new page, select “Blank” site (illustrated by a white box with a plus sign in it)
Title your SITE
In the top left corner, label your site name; this is the name that is for your entire site, therefore should be the company, subject, or class for which you are designing the site.
Design your Site Aesthetic (how everything looks)
Choose images and fonts that work well together and that represent YOU :)
General themes can be found in the Themes area of the site (on the right of the page)
OR you can choose your own images to upload for the banner
Name your HOME PAGE
In the top middle area, give a name to your Home Page by clicking in the box
To make changes to the font, size, effects, etc. change the options in the pop-up box where you are typing
On the home page, write a bit about yourself by answering the following:
What is your name and 3 favorite things
What grade are you in, and what is currently your favorite class at Summit
If you had to choose a type of art that you like, what would it be AND why (music, ceramic, painting, drawing, dance, performance, sculpture, vocal, digital, etc.)
What do you hope to learn/ get out of this class?
Add an Image Carousel to your home page
Find 7 images on the internet that you like of that represent ou in some way
Save them as JPGs and upoload them to your carousel
Add pages to your site:
On the far right side of your browser window, you will see an area with tabs labelled, “Insert Pages Themes”
These are the tabs you will use to add text and pictures in the pages body, add new pages or change the order of pages on the site, or choose different themes and styles to the entire site.
Select the “Pages” tab
At the bottom of the pages tab, select the “+” (plus) button
Give your page a name in the pop up box provided
The project names are: PhotoPea Worksheet
Digital Collage
Elements/Principles
(We will be adding more pages as we complete projects to post.)
Click done after each page
You will then be navigated to this new page to edit and add content as necessary
Be sure to add pages from the HOME PAGE each time!!
To PUBLISH your site:
Select the Publish button in the top right corner
In the pop up box, review your URL - it should match your site name
Select Publish (again)
To check your site, click the View button that appears at the bottom of your page after you have selected Publish
To edit further (after publishing):
Select the pencil button in the bottom right corner
To share your site (LINK):
Enter EDIT mode
Select the LINK button
Copy the URL
Paste where you would like to share it (Google Classroom Assignment)
FOR LATER:
Edit Content on individual pages
Navigate to the page you would like to edit by selecting that page in the “Pages” tab to the right of your browser window
Select the “Insert” tab
In this column, there are many options to explore
To Add text:
Select the Text Box button
You can edit your font, size, effects, etc. by changing the options in the pop up box when you have the text box selected
To Add images:
Select the Images button
You will either be able to upload from your computer or select from images/animations in your Google Drive
To Embed links:
Select the Embed button
You can either copy and paste the page URL to which you would like to link an external page or video OR
RECOMMENDED: You can embed code by copying and pasting the page HTML code (this option is more consistently functional)
To add from Google Drive:
Select the Drive button
Select the folder, file, document, presentation, etc. that you would like to use
To Change page body layouts:
Select from the layout options (six options available)
The mountain symbol is a placeholder for images/animations
The lines are placeholders for text
To add other miscellaneous:
Select one of the other options at the bottom of the “Insert” tab and edit accordingly
