Please use your sketchbooks to answer the following questions:
What is a self portrait (your definition)?
What are some words (3-7) that you would use to describe yourself?
What are some things/objects (5-10) that represent you?
If a veiwer were looking at your self-portrait, what would you want them to know about you?
Analyze:
We are going to look at some different portraits. As you look at each one, write down what you notice and feel about what you see. What do you think that the portrait "says" about the person?
ASSIGNMENT:
Take a photograph- a conceptual still life portrait- which represents something important about yourself, without showing your face in the photograph! (Like the examples above!)
Use the objects on you and in your backpack to create an interesting composition that you will then photograph.
Requirements:
It needs to be clear that you thought about what objects you chose and how you placed them.
You need to include your name in some way.
The photo that you take needs to be well lit and thoughtful.
You will need to write about this... so make sure you are thinking it through!
Steps:
Gather any/all objects that you would like to include in your composition. (In person, I can print 2 images for you to use, if needed.)
Move to an area where you can work independently.
Organize your objects in a way that is nice to look at and in clearly intentional. Make sure that you can see all of your objects.
Take several photos with different lighting and angles to best capture your work (you may need a friend to help)!
Open your image in Phtopea and make small edits as you would like (Image > Adjustments)
Upload your still life/conceptual self portrait onto your website on a NEW PAGE called Still Life Self Portrait
Beneath your work, please write a paragraph or two explaining your work usng complete sentences.
Be sure to answer the following questions:
how this photograph conceptually and visually shows something about you
explain what you are attempting to share about yourself with the viewer
what objects that you chose to include and why
** We will be having a gallery walk towards the end of class to see what different students have created. **
Upload your photo AND a link to your Still Life Self Portrait webpage to the assignment in Google Classroom.
Once you are done, you can do anything on the Spare Time Doc (in the Google Classroom Resources)
