Assignment: A Virtual Color Wheel
Step 1: In your sketchbook, list out all the primary, secondary, & tertiary colors of the color wheel. (ROYGBV)
Let's take a walk around school
- take mental notes of the colors you see!
Step 2: Next to each color, come up with 3 ideas of photos you can take that show that color (around the school).
* Consider your composition! The color needs to fill your frame with very little of any other colors showing!
Step 3: Go get your photos!
Step 4: Upload your photos onto your computer desktop
Step 5: Open PhotoShop
Step 6: Create a New document, called LastName_ColorWheel (ex. Yelenick_ColorWheel), with the dimensions 6x6 inches, transparent.
Step 7: Color your background either BLACK , WHITE , or GRAY
Step 8: Using the marquee tool, draw a circle onto your background.
Step 9: Using the eraser tool, erase out the selected area.
Step 10: Using the shape (LINE) tool, draw 6 lines across the circle to split it into 12 sections for all your color photos.
Step 11: Pull in your first color UNDER the background layer and using the eraser tool, erase the edge until it fits into one of the 'pie' sections of the circle.
Step 12: Pull the next color photo in the circle order into the circle and repeat step 11.
Continue Steps 11 & 12 until your circle is completed.
Step 13: Create a text box somewhere on your color wheel (top layer) to title your work and write your name. Add effects as you like.
*Check your work- if it is PERFECT, move on to step 14*
EXAMPLE:
Step 14: Save your photo color wheel as a JPEG.
File > Save As... > LastName_ColorWheel > JPEG > Save
Step 15: Upload your wheel onto your website on a new page called, "Color Wheel"
Step 16: Upload your wheel into Google Classroom so I can print and grade it. LET ME KNOW YOU UPLOADED IT (so I know to print it).
Step 17: Once printed, cut out your color wheel (using straight lines-- rulers!!), glue it onto black mounting paper (in the photo basket) with a clue stick, and turn it in to be hung up.
Step 18: Fill out a rubric (in photo basket) and turn it in for a grade!
GREAT JOB!
