Digital Collage

On a blank page of your sketchbook, respond to the following:

What is a collage? What can it be used for?

What are some things (images) that would represent you?? - try to think of 10!

Making a Digital Collage for Your Sketchbooks:

You will need to create a collage that will go on the front cover of your sketchbooks. Choose images that tell me about you. For example, favorite animal, team, food, color, activity, etc.

Success Criteria:

You will be able to...

· Identify and discuss the components of a layout

· Assess the use of principles of design and elements of art (color, pattern, balance, proportion)

· Analyze the use of images to explore visual interpretations of identity (words vs. pictures)

· Collect and apply different images and tools within their work

· Create an individual collage (layout, color palette, etc.) considering how you see yourself

Requirements:

Title: Lastname_Cover

Dimensions: 10x7 inches OR 7x10 inches (make sure is is NOT pixels!)

Components:

*Your name (use the fx text tools by double clicking the text layer)

* A minimum of 10 images, collaged together with the software and tools

* 2 Images must be trimmed (cropped) in a circle/elipse shape using the lasso or elipse selections tool

* 2 images must have the background removed to show a specific thing (baseball, food, etc.) using the wand, eraser, or selection tools

* Your collage must fill the entire canvas space.

I am looking for quality work.

Steps:

1. In the doc in google classroom, make list of 10 things that represent you in some way. Think: colors, animals, games, music, or other objects. Be sure to explain these things.

2. Open PS and create a new canvas according to the required dimensions. (ABOVE)

3. Based on the list you made in STEP 1, find images online, that are safe for reuse (creative common license), to create your collage.

- You must include a minimum of 10 images; you always can include more, though

- You will need to crop 2 images in a a circle/elipse (marquee tool)

* Cut out the eye of a face, trim an image in half, etc.

- You will need to trim out 2 images' backgrounds completely (lasso tool, magic eraser tool)

* Cut all the way around the edges of an image/object so it stands alone

- Pay carful attention to the rubric to makes sure it is perfect!

4. Once you have finished your collage, have someone look at it and give feedback.

5. Save your work as a JPG

To Save as JPEG:

File > Export As... > JPG

6. Upload your project to your website, on the Digital Collage page.

To Upload onto your site:

Go to the desired page > EDIT > INSERT > IMAGE > Upload Image > Find the image > Highlight Image in Preview Screen > OK

7. Beneath your image (on your site), write 5-7 sentences explaining the images you chose and how they represent you.

Have Mrs. Yelenick check this.
