Gresham School Board Meeting

December 17, 2018 Minutes

Present: Pat Pleshek, Alphia Creapeau, Marge Eberhard, Grace Schwefel, Jeff Hoffman and Joan Rosenow. Absent: Andy Schmidt. Also present: Superintendent – Newell Haffner, Principal - Ben Heninger and Director of Finance and Operations – Nick Curran.

Meeting Called to Order: Meeting was opened at 7:00 pm by President Alphia Creapeau.

Pledge of Allegiance: The Pledge of Allegiance was recited by all present.

Approve or Amend the Agenda: Motion to amend the agenda (remove item 5b - Closed session minutes) and approve was made by Marge Eberhard, second by Pat Pleshek, voice vote was 6-0 in favor, 1 absent, motion carried.

Public Comments: None.

Consent Agenda:

Previous Meeting Minutes: Motion to approve the December 3rd meeting minutes was made by Pat Pleshek, second by Joan Rosenow, voice vote was 6-0 in favor, 1 absent, motion carried.

Administrative Report by Newell Haffner: Newell reviewed the following:

Educational Priorities, Title I Math and Reading night, Kindness Counts and staff trainings.

Finance and Operation Report by Nick Curran: Nick reviewed the following:

Budget recap, phone system, district banking and entryway.

Policy 5530 Drug Prevention (first read): Policy was distributed.

School Safety: Motion to accept the preliminary school safety plan due on January 1, 2019 was made by Marge Eberhard, second by Pat Pleshek, voice vote was 6-0 in favor, 1 absent, motion carried.

21st Century Grant/Fund 80 Tax Levy: By unanimous consent, the board decided to pass on the 21st Century grant for this current year.

Construction Update: Motion to approve design option “B” was made by Marge Eberhard, second by Pat Pleshek, voice vote was 6-0 in favor, 1 absent, motion carried.
