Gresham Native American Parent Advisory Committee Minutes

January 17, 2024 

Attendance: President Sabrina Miller, Superintendent Newell Haffner, Samantha Lagina-School Counselor

The meeting was called to order at 6:31 pm by President Sabrina Miller

Approved the agenda: Motion by Sam Seconded by Sabrina Voice Vote: Yes 3-0

Minutes for the following meetings: 

• Approved the meeting minutes from December 13, 2023. 

• 
  

We discussed agenda items: 

• Additional Parent survey-no update

• Indian Policies and Procedures approved for our Federal applications in December.

• Bowler Pow-Wow 2024-no updates

• Ribbon Skirts and Ribbon Shirts-Sabrina Miller reported it is going well. She will have additional classes as the need arises. 

• Moccasins-Violet will let us know when she/her mom is available.

• Beading-Grandma Ellie to help do this. She is thinking that January would be a good month to start. 

• Out of School Time Grant-$10,000 to support activities and pay a stipend to those who help out. 

  • Tribal Flags-trying to get the 13 tribal flags to display at school. 

  • Field Trips to Menominee Reservation and Museum and Stockbridge-Munsee Reservation and Museum.

• Talked about having a meal at the future Title I Family nights.Newell will get the additional dates and Sabrina will try to round up people to bring in meals. 

Future Agenda Items:

• Brock Schrieber-teach Stockbridge-Munsee Language

• Beth/Guy Reiter-teach Menominee Language

• Menominee Language through UW-Madison

• Violet Ready-Parent Engagement Survey

• Misti Cook-herbal alternatives/teas

• Warren-long ball and cooking traditional meals

• Graduation is Friday, May 24, 2024 @ 7:00 pm

  • Drum Team for Graduation ????

Next meeting: February 15, 2024 at 6:30 pm
