Padlet Premium

We have a premium subscription as a college called Padlet Backpack which gives us a few upgrades over the free (vanilla) version, the main one that suits us if you're sharing video, is bigger file uploads is every student can upload files up to 250MB in size. That's 10 times more than what you get on the free version, and the free version is limited to only three Padlets, that's why I recommend the premium version, even though the sign in process is a little fiddly...

Instead of just googling 'padlet' you'll need to go to our private area: uwcsea.padlet.org then log in, if they are already signed in to the free one, they need to log out, and log back in where it says in light grey writing, Backpack/Briefcase user then they will be asked to "enter your Padlet/Briefcase domain" here they just enter uwcsea, then they can sign in with their Google account as usual.

Padlet App

When signing in on the Padlet app, it's the same as the process for the web browser, click the grey text at the bottom that says 'Backpack/Briefcase user?' then login with Google. When prompted for the domain, enter 'uwcsea'.

To import pallets from your previous vanilla account (ones you own, not ones you have collaborated on/participated in) you need to use: https://uwcsea.padlet.org/org/import

Sharing with a class:

Unlike the free/vanilla Padlet, the default setting with a padlet is private unless you set it otherwise. The most likely scenario for us is for the teacher to create the Padlet, tweak it so it works the way they like, then they share it with class, to set this up is easy, but … a little counter-intuitive:

Go to Share > Choose Secret > Those with access can write

I would also click on the cog icon and make sure these are ON:

  1. Attribution (so you can see who posted what)

  2. Profanity filter (just in case)

  3. Comments
