Image & Audio Resources

Better Images

When searching for images in Google, look for images that are large, this means they need to be at least 1000 pixels in width if not more. To do this use the Google Search Tools:

Tools > Images > Size ...

Make sure you save the image, not just the thumbnail image!!!

In Tools you can also focus on Creative Commons images to avoid images with watermarks that are also a good resolution.

For more better images and videos that do not have ugly watermarks, you can find great high resolution images on these sites, free for educational use:

Audio Assets

It's easy in a world dominated by text, image and video to forget the fact that sometimes, just audio, unadorned has some unique qualities, and teaching opportunities.

You actually have a whole host of audio resources on your Mac already, they're buried but they are there. These are resources that used by iMovie and GarageBand. In the Finder, clock on Go > Computer > Macintosh HD > Library > Audio > Apple Loops > Apple

You can download a whole selection of sound effects from here.

You can just browse these and drop them in to GarageBand or iMovie etc, or you can install all of them, by just dragging and dropping the whole folder into the location above, or into the loops area in GarageBand, now you can access and search for any them.

If those aren't enough, here are some sites that provide sound effects, free to download:
