Google Slide Sharing on the iPad

The Google Slides app on the iPad is great, buy as some restrictions compared to using Slides on a laptop in the browser, for example no option to add animations. One of the biggest drawbacks is the inability to manage share settings beyond making the file completely private, or limiting it to just our school domain, which means that parents won't be able to see it.

Luckily, because we use Hapara, I can set the view settings on the 'back end', but this still presents the problem of how the kids can copy the link to share their slides, if the try to do this by switching sharing off and on again, the slides will be reset to restrict viewing to our domain only:

There is a way around this.

  1. Don't try and share the slides from within the slideshow

  2. Exit the slideshow to the viewer

  3. Tap on the 3 dots in the corner of the slideshow you want to share.

  4. Now copy the link to share (eg on Seesaw) using the 'Get link' option

  5. Or you can send the slides as a PDF using the 'Send a copy' option.
