What can Gemini do in Google Drive?
Click on a folder and Gemini can summarise the entire contents of that folder.
Get quick facts about a project without having to read through all the documents
Can't remember what you called that file you were working on 5 weeks ago? Describe it to Gemini and you'll have it found in no time
Gemini can create tables or images based on the content in a folder in your Drive and export them to Google Docs or Sheets
Gemini can now analyse images: Double-click on an image file in your Drive and use Gemini to summarize the image, extract text or information, generate alternate text, or even write a story about it
Want to make a quiz based on one of your resources? Gemini can! When you first create a ‘new form’, a Gemini window will pop up. Type “create a 10 question quiz based on this file” and then use the @ symbol to search your Google Drive for a file to attach.
Then, edit the quiz as required, and use “settings” to “turn this form into a quiz”. You can then set an answer key, and a number of marks for each question. (Gemini can sometimes do this if you get the prompt right, but often fails)
AI tools and guidance
You will have noticed by now the AI functionality of all your Google tools. This message focuses on Google Meet.
Gemini can now transcribe, summarise and list action points from your Google Meet meetings. Click the AI logo in the top right corner of any meeting.
We do have a policy about recording meetings, and transcription counts as a recording.
Essentially, please:
Inform all participants that the meeting will be recorded (ideally before the meeting to give a chance to object) - Only switch it on if everyone is OK with it.
Use transcription as well as summaries in case there is disagreement about outcomes.
Share the notes with all participants
