Collage Creation

It's hard to beat a good collage to simply and efficiently present a snapshot of an activity, a field trip, a day, you get the idea. Perfect for a simple but effective blog or learning journal post.

If you're using an iPad, it's hard to beat PicCollage for simplicity and efficacy, but what if you're working on your Mac?

Collage Creation Tools for the Desktop (as well as the iPad)

If simplicity is your goal, then look no further than Google Photos, they have a built in collage creation tool, just select the photos you want to include (between 2-9) click + and let the assistant do the rest.

The assistant takes care of everything, which makes it easy, however the simplicity comes at the cost of control, so forget having any choice about what goes where and how. And no, you can't add text. Yet.

Asking students to create their own collage from a Google Photos Album you've shared with them is a great activity, here's an example.

It's as simple as:

  1. Visit the shared album
  2. Select the images
  3. Add them to your own library (the download icon)
  4. Go to your own library (click on the Google Photos icon)
  5. Choose 2-9 images
  6. Click + and choose Collage
  7. Click the 3 dots and save.

If beauty and control is what you're after then look no further than any of these apps, they give you all the control you want, which makes it more complex than Google Photos, but it's still on a par with the complexity of Pic Collage, but with a more 'grown up' interface. Who knows, you might even prefer it to Pic Collage, if so, they have an iOS app as well!
