Hapara

The Hapara Teacher Dashboard is a powerful tool for teachers to use to see 'inside' their students' Google Drives, and easily share content with them, direct to the relevant folder.

Sounds great but how does it all fit together?

You'll need to use (and bookmark) this link to access Hapara, which is in essence just a really useful website, a website dedicated to monitoring your students' Google Lives.

As far as your student's are concerned Hapara does not exist, all it really is a website for teachers to use that gives you powerful access to your class's Google Drives.

Here's a video from Hapara themselves to explain what it does. Skip to 1:29 - 1:55 for a brief overview on how the dashboard works:

Access (almost) Everything

Overview of every student's Google Drive

Hapara allows us to support effective digital organisation; we do this by creating folders for students to use. eg: Reading, Writing, Units, Mathematics, and a Class Folder for everything else.

This is the main place for students to save their work. Students can/should create subfolders, but it is essential that they save any work they do in these folders for safe keeping, even if the files are not Google Docs. Another advantage is that we can control the share settings, so any files stored in these folders are set to 'anyone with the link can view', so if/when they share this work elsewhere, eg on Seesaw, parents can see the work.

If files are just stored in the student Google Drive they will default to private, and will not be visible to parents even if they are shared with them on Seesaw. This is another good reason for encouraging students to build good organisational habits.
