LEARNING GOAL: Define "subtext" for an actor.
DO NOW: Quick Jot
What is a secret that a character might have in a play? It could be big or small, important or silly.
VOCABULARY: Subtext
Subtext is what a character is thinking, but not saying.
Often, a character will say one thing, but mean something different.
When Gabriella says, "Pretty crazy, right? Us meeting up again like this?", her subtext is "I like you, and I'm really glad to see you again."
STUDIO TIME:
Practice writing a script with heavy subtext. There is a template in Google Classroom.
We will continue with auditions on Thursday.
