DO NOW: Go-Around Discussion
Our next writing task is a reader’s theater adaptation of a children’s story.
What story are you going to adapt?
OPENING STASIS:
Narrative structure begins (and ends) with stasis. This is the normal routine for characters. It is before the story is set in motion.
In “The Bird, the Mouse and the Sausage,” the beginning stasis is: The 3 titular characters live together, and they each have a job to do. They get along with each other, because they do their jobs well.
What is the “opening stasis” of the story you’re adapting? (Quick jot, and then share)
OUTLINE: In Google Classroom
Begin the outline of your reader’s theater script. You should be able to work at least up through the dramatic conflict.
STUDIO TIME: At 9:15, take fifteen minutes to begin writing your reader’s theater script. Start with the narrator, but don’t rely too heavily on narration. Get the characters talking as well.
