CORRESPONDENCE: SCHOOL COMMITTEE AND THE PUBLIC

The General Public, and more specifically citizens of the towns of Ashburnham and Westminster, are encouraged to contact their elected School Committee representatives with requests for committee deliberation as well as addressing questions, concerns, complaints or compliments. While informal discussion is quite often appropriate, specific matters requiring Committee consideration should be in written or electronic format to insure accurate interpretation of the issues as well as documentation for future reference.

AWRSD policy KE Public Complaints should be reviewed if the issue concerns a significant complaint.

  • The Agenda of all regular meetings of the Ashburnham-Westminster Regional School Committee shall include a Correspondence item for the purpose of bringing these matters to the attention of the full committee in a public forum in conformance with Open Meeting regulations.

  • Any correspondence directed to an individual school committee member with information of interest to the full committee or suggesting discussion and/or action by the full committee should be addressed at the next regular School Committee meeting under the agenda item “Correspondence.” It is recommended that such correspondence be forwarded to the superintendent’s office prior to the meeting for inclusion in the School Committee meeting packet.

  • Unless authorized by the full committee, no individual member may respond on behalf of the full committee. Any correspondence received by an individual member should be acknowledged.
