ALTERNATIVE BULB HOLDERS TO FIT INSIDE THE ORIGINAL REAR BULB HOLDERS

.........................................................................................................................................

The original post by Reliant World forum member " terribleone " referring to that modification seems to have disappeared into cyberspce with the demise of the zen13 website !

However , he has reposted some of the photos and he used a different manufacturers bulb holder where you can remove the internals of the new bulb holder and attach the earth wire direct to the internal spring .

Following post copied from an old Reliant World post ;

ok so I have the usual problem that the rear lights fitted with the ford bulb holders work and then they don`t, so I have looked at this and I saw the options on fifers site etc ie making other holders fit and fitting trailer or different lights.

but I read a fix somewhere and I thought it was a easy but great solution and keeps the standards light units

{ 1 } I brought the suitable bulb holders from ebay

http://www.amazon.co.uk/DURITE-LIGHT.../dp/B00A6889KE

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Durite-Bulbh...1527386&sr=1-6

{ 2 } then I removed the old holders from car and then removed all the metal work that connects the bulb pins etc inside the holders, so you end up with a empty plastic holder.

{ 3 } then you have to file the new holder so you can solder a earth connection on

{ 4 } then I drilled a hole in the bottom of the old holder to allow the cables to pass through neatly, #

{ 5 } then you just push the new bulb holder inside the old holder I used pliers as it was tight and makes it secure,

{ 6 } then all you have to do is wire them into the harness directly, job done no more hassle with dodgy working light and cost less than £20 for everything and took 30-60ins to modify

fifer feel free to add this page to you site if you want too

Yep 2 stop and tail and six of the singles.

Went back too look at my old post but it seems to have got lost when zen13 went bump.

Any way to add to KTBs post you`ll normally find if you take the centre bit out of the new bulb holder there is a washer under the spring that you can solder the earth wire onto to save soldering it to the outside of the bulb holder.

Alternatively wrap the wire round the spring and solder it on.

Keeps everything nice and slim and easier to get in the ford bulb holders.

The 6 pin connectors are numbered from 1 to 6
