As far as I am aware the 104 battery is the one fitted when new on earlier Reliants .
I , along with many others , use an 055 battery .
However , before buying one , you need to look at ;
The dimensions in your own battery tray ;
The layout of the Positive and Negative leads .

The following info regarding an alternative battery was kindly given to me by Pavel Konvalinka from Prague
The battery is for motorcycles and quads ,
BATTERY TERMINALS LAYOUT ; this battery has 2 POSITIVE TERMINALS and 2 NEGATIVE TERMINALS
There should be used some home made brass strips as a reduction between Reliant cables and the battery.
As shown in the picture.

If you were looking at the battery fixed in position on the car , the
Negative terminal is nearest the engine and the windscreen
and obviously the Positive terminal is nearest the engine and the front of the car .

* This just fits due to the posts being above the battery body ; It does not fit in my Mk2 Robin due to the posts being above the battery body and the bonnet will not close .
I like this battery so I have just removed a wee bit of the fibreglass at the bottom /side of the battery compartment to allow the battery to sit lower .
* I have now bought another battery for Mk3 Robin and it has the same dimensions as the Yuasa Professional battery ;
It is made by the same parent company , Yuasa .
Only difference is that it ;
Goes under the name of GS TITAN 055 { Alternative Reference : 32B19R };
It has battery monitor built in ;
It is reputed to be capable of 40,000 starts compared to the Professional s 25,000 starts .
