CYLINDER HEAD

TIP

CYLINDER HEAD HOT SPOT PROBLEMS

{ 1 } The back of the cylinder head where the water hose stub is fitted is a potential hotspot .

The heads are cast and there is often large dollops of sand crap left which is not cleaned out .

This crap is often not discovered till the core plug is renewed .

{ 2 } The threaded part of the water outlet stub where it screws into the head can go too far in and basically butt on the bottom and block the flow .

SOLUTION

Solution is to Flush out any crud and either shorten the tail or grind a semi circle into the bottom of the threaded stub .

It is important that the hot water is sucked out off that stub and through the pump .
